Sealab 2020 – The Complete Series

Hanna-Barbera’s Sealab 2020 was a half-hour animated series that took place aboard the Sealab, a high-tech underwater laboratory that housed over 250 men, women, and children. The oceanographers, led by Dr. Paul Williams, were on a mission to protect both their lab and the ocean from harm. Assisting Paul were his crew of “oceanauts”: Hal, Gail, Ed, and radio dispatcher Sparks.

Among other things, the crew of Sealab faced with challenges as attacks from sharks and giant squids, potential environmental disasters, and threats to Sealab and marine life from shipping.

Also on board the Sealab were silver-haired Captain Mike Murphy and his children, Bobby and Sally, all of whom were rescued by Sealab when their boat sank topside. The cute pet quotient was filled by Murphy’s pet sea turtles and a dolphin named Tuffy.

Sealab 2020 is an American animated television series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and broadcast on NBC from September 9 to December 2, 1972, on Saturday mornings. The series was created by Alex Toth, who also created such other Hanna-Barbera cartoons as Space Ghost and Birdman and the Galaxy Trio. A total of 13 episodes were aired, with two episodes remaining unaired. As with most Hanna-Barbera series, the show was in occasional rotation on Boomerang, the TV channel that owns the Hanna-Barbera archives.

Note 01: The video size for the entire series are Micro TV-sized (below 360p), meaning they are not as huge just as other websites has them found. However, they have better quality, despite of its decent size (at 360p).

Note 02: The last note is an important alert – A spoof of the show was produced in 2001 for Cartoon Networks, “Adult Swim” line of programming. Entitled Sealab 2021, the new show had the same characters and underwater environment as the original series, and even used existing footage from the old show, but it played strictly for laughs.
